OBJECTIVES:
●Demonstrates repetition or making patterns of movement
●Demonstrates locomotor movements (walk, run, hop, jump, and
leap) and compound locomotor movements (gallop, slide, leap)
MATERIALS
Paper and writing utensil Kidz Bop Kids music playlist
WARMUP
I.
Bring out the creativity in each student
1.Give them one word and have them draw a picture of what
comes to their mind for one minute
i.Spring
ii.Night
iii.Anima
liv.boat
v.Meal
2.Pass your paper to the next person and add onto their
drawing with a new word
3.Do this for 5 minutes, one minute per word
II.
Stretch and get the body moving
1.Start at the head and move down the body
ACTIVITY
II. The Macarena
1. At first, give background as to what the dance is
i. Spanish Dance song created by the band Los del Rio in
1993
ii.Got the band ranked #1 Greatest One-Hit Wonder of All Time
2.Teaching the dance
i.Show the dance first
ii.Break it into 4 segments
iii. Teach each segment one at a time in slow motion
iv.Then put all segments together
v. Then put on normal speed
ASSESSMENT
Now that we have finished the activity, remember back to our
warm-up at the beginning:
●Stretch again for our muscles
●Have students reflect about what part of the dance they
thought was most challenging
●Have a weekly challenge: teach a family member a section of
the Macarena
