Students' Work

Classroom Rules (Age: K–2)
1. Be kind to yourself and others
2. Be respectful to your teacher and of the space
3. Actively listen and participate 
4. Keep your hands and body to yourself unless otherwise told
5. Come prepared with appropriate clothing, shoes, and water

Verbal
Students lose control during a transition time and teacher needs to gain their attention
“If you can hear my voice, do a pilĂ©. If you can hear my voice do a tendu.”
Continue coming up with moves for students to do until all students are on task.

Physical
Two students are getting frustrated because they are bumping into one another.
Teacher walks between the students, possibly putting a hand on the shoulder if the situation escalates.

Visual Cue
Students are playing on the ballet barre.
Teacher silently points to a sign that has Rule #2.

Proximal Attention
15 students aren’t listening, they are talking over the teacher.
Teacher begins complimenting the 5 students that are on task, teacher also passes by students that are misbehaving.
The 15 other students slowly improve their behavior in the hopes of being recognized and complimented.
