Action Plan:
Our Class at a Glance:
The
philosophy of my dance school is to teach dance and movement to
eventually learn how to express one’s self through the body while having
fun.
Our Rules:
Respect Others
Follow Directions
Arrive on time ready to have fun
Be Creative
Our Class Procedures:
Enter the room quietly, leave your shoes by the door, and come ready to learn.
All visitors and audience must stay in the waiting area while class is in session.
When I need your attention, I will raise my hand and play a chosen song.
This means everyone must stop what they are doing and listen for
instructions when the song stops.
If someone has a question always raise your hand and wait to be called on before speaking.
On breaks given by the teacher students are allowed to drink water in
the studio. No other food or drinks allowed inside the studio.
Use bathroom before or after class, but if you have to leave the room you must ask your instructor first.
Positive Consequences:
Stickers/ prizes
Choosing own partner
Choosing what music to warm up to
First Week, First Day - Minute by Minute:
One-hour dance class:
5minutes- Have all students find their own spot on the floor by each
standing on a circle that has been placed on the floor already.
Introduce myself and what my teaching style is.
5minutes- Go over classroom rules, procedures, and both positive and
negative consequences. Answer any questions that pertain to this.
20minutes- Get everyone in a circle. Have all the students go around say
their name and something special about themselves. After all students
and myself have finished then we will go back around the circle and have
everyone repeat each other’s name as a group.
Include a lot of smiling, nodding, and positive consequences when
students are paying attention and trying their best.
10minutes- Warm up. Start off with the brain dance to a fun upbeat song
to get the students engaged and get them to start being creative. This
includes breathe, tactile, core-distal, head-tail, upper-lower,
body-side, cross-lateral, and vestibular. As I do
the moves, I will explain them out loud so the students are able to
watch and listen to what they need to follow.
10minutes: Since this is the first class the students are going to start
to explore positive and negative space. I will start off with having
students walk in different directions. The one rule is that you have to
try not to bump into each other. I will make
this exercise more complex by adding speeds and different levels to this
activity. Music will be playing in the background. I will be talking
over the music giving directions while participating in this exercise
with the students.
5minutes: Have everyone stop what they are doing and sit down in place.
Talk about what they just did and what they learned about positive and
negative space in the studio.
5minutes: Get everyone in a circle. Slow breathes in and out. Roll down
and up a couple times for a final stretch. Thank the class for coming
and say how excited you are to be teaching this class.
Correcting Behaviors - Behavior Contracts:
Crisis Plan:
Send a student to get another teacher, so there are at least two teachers in the room.
Unless in danger all students would stay in the classroom and continue to work on dances and exercises given.
Remove misbehaving student from the group by taking this student to the side or to another room.
If possible, help the student that is having a crisis regain self-control of the situation.
Depending on the situation, different negative consequences will be given to the student.
If bad behavior continues then a contract could be made and signed by
the student understanding the studio rules, but if they continue after
that than the student could be dismissed from class.
The Finale:
Develop: create your resources, make forms, create posters with procedures for students to teach them the procedures
Teach: Videos, books, brochures to learn procedures
Share: with the principle, with students, for yourself
Review: Look at your management plan and see if it has worked

the dance studio. We should not judge or give negative comments on other’s dances. We should encourage each other and accept the diversities.
6. Taking out the trash before leaving the room: it’s important to leave the dance studio clean because no one wants to dance in a filthy place.

Action Plan
Our choices:
Respect others
Kids get more comfortable when they have a routine -More relaxed Class
Procedures:
Minute by Minute:
-Greet students when they are entering classroom -Have students follow the established rules of taking off their shoes and putting their belongings away -Students should be familiar with the routine and have the established spaces to be for the class to begin -Before the warm up the class will go over rules and greet one another -The warm up begins and concludes with the established signals the instructor uses for attention grabbing purposes -Group lesson or activity begins and students are to follow the established rules of the class room respecting one another/objects -Asking students for help in understanding how students do the group project. -Students are aware of the consequences of breaking the rules and are monitored to prevent bad behavior before it begins -Encouraging the students to follow the rules with positive reinforcement will decrease chances of misbehavior -The conclusion of class will include a more fun cool down -Creating a predictable, fun, safe, learning classroom students will be more likely to enjoy coming and follow rules to ensure class is fun
Positive reinforcement examples:
-Rules followed a free-play before cool down to students have something to look forward to
-Words of encouragement:
often praising the student for the work that they had done is enough to put a smile on the face of any student .-Pointing out students who are doing the correct thing rather than the ones who are doing the wrong thing -With the class establish a reward system so students and instructor can agree on a “prize” or “goal” they can achieve based on established rules and ‘regulations

Action Plan:
1. Entering the room: be respectful of the space provided, enter quietly and politely.
2. Participating in group lessons: Be respectful to classmates, be friendly and kind to others
3.
Being a classroom helper: this will allow a student to feel like they
are a leader and will inspire other students to do the same.
4. Getting into work groups: When preforming in groups, be kind and welcoming to others
5. Signals for attention:
Why is this beneficial?
These
procedures will help the students become more responsible and
respectful to their peers while enjoying something they have passion in.
This will create a healthy environment where students are comfortable
in and will be themselves. It will create an environment that a student
would love to come back to, instead of dreading to come to class.
Step by step:
1.
Students should be in proper attire and will have 10 min to change
before class, once proper attire is worn, students should head towards
the room and line up in the proper formation.
2. The class will
start off with bar. During barre, the teacher will observe whoever will
be the classroom helper based on who exhibited the best behavior during
barre. The classroom helper will be in charge of playing the music for
all center exercises.
3. To encourage participation in group
lessons, the teacher will utilize floor ‘dots’ to assign each child to
his or her personal space to maintain focus when students aren’t at the
barre.
4. For choosing groups, students are able to make their
own if they exhibit exemplary behavior for the entire class, however if
there are instances where the teacher struggles to keep student’s
attention, groups are chosen by the teacher, splitting up students who
are creating distractions. If one student is the main culprit, they may
be asked to observe group work as a punishment for misbehaving.
5.
When signaling for attention, the teacher will first simply pause what
they are doing to see if the students notice. The second time, the
teacher will raise one hand to signify attention and the third time the
teacher will stop the exercise entirely until the distraction stops.

in your homework; sit at your desk and read alone or do before-school
work silently.
What to do during free time:
If you finish an assignment, first work on any unfinished assignments
that are in the front pocket of your work notebook; when you finish
those, you may choose to do your classroom job, read a book, write a
story, illustrate a book, make up math problems, work on a research
project, peer-tutor someone who needs your help, or create a song about
what the class is studying.

When I need your attention, I will ring the chimes (or sound the rain
stick, open the music box, etc.); as soon as you hear the signal, stop
what you are doing, look at me, and listen for directions.

Do not bring anything with you unless I ask you to; politely find a
place to sit where you can do your best learning; sit flat, not on your
knees; listen carefully for new information; raise your hand to speak;
do not speak when someone else is speaking.
Positive Consequences
